Banish Facial Tics With NLP

As many as one in four children experience the emotional pain of facial tics. This condition can best be explained as a repetitive, continual spasm affecting the muscles of both the eyes and the face. The exact cause is usually undefined, even though research has demonstrated a strong link between stressors and an increase in the evidence of symptoms.

An alternate explanation for the manifestation of tics is deficiencies in essential vitamins or minerals, such as magnesium. Some types of facial tics are symptoms of disorders of the nervous system, including Tourette syndrome, a health condition arising from a malfunction of the nervous system. This health condition is believed to have a hereditary aspect as well.

A few examples of a facial tic include rapid eye movements or eye blinking, squinting, mouth or nose wrinkeling, twitching, grunting, mouth twitches, facial grimacing, facial twitches, and throat clearing. The condition often originates early in an individual’s physical development, and can last for only a few weeks or for several years. In some cases, the condition persists into adulthood.

Facial tics can perpetuate and increase anxiety levels in a child already experiencing significant stress because of the disorder itself. Kids can be very unkind, making fun of the child’s problem. Worse, teachers who do not understand and fail to aid other students to understand and assist the child in conquering his difficulty can can create a devastatingly negative effect on a child’s self image.

The problem, however, is not relevant only to the suffering child. Adults who must cope with a facial tic encounter significant challenges in managing this problem. These people often face significant social difficulties. In some instances, a person can teach themselves to identify the onset and supersede the spasm that results in the facial tic. Even this, however, can become mentally and physically exhausting. Such individual often wrestle with self image problems as well.

Grownups who obtain relief from the agonizing effects of facial grimaces and other tics are afforded with an opportunity for social rebirth. Their perception of themselves improves, and they no longer fear to experience life at its fullest. Children who successfully this disorder experience freedom the agonizing anxiety that hinders their social lives, and encounter with joy rather than emotional pain.

Often, medications, such as mildly sedating drugs, help individuals manage this problem. Even though the medications may lessen the frequency or severity of these symptoms, the medications themselves can often cause adverse effects. Because of this, individuals frequently turn alternative therapies to help them in treating their condition.

Two alternatives that have provided exciting potential in helping individuals to overcome facial tics are hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). Both of these therapies capitalize on the strengths of the individual’s subconscious to help them manage the spasm. Since these therapies identify and treat the source of the disorder through intervening in the unconscious where the problem originates, they are significantly more beneficial than traditional therapy approaches that just attempt to control facial twitches, grunting, eye blinking, mouth twitches, squinting, facial grimacing, facial twitches, grunting, or other types of impulsive behavior.

Hypnotherapy helps the person being treated to enter a peaceful dreamlike state and receive suggestions that allow them to expel anxiety. Because tics are a result of suppressed stress within a person’s body, releasing this tension enables them to successfully control this behavior. After several sessions, the client should be capable of possess the ability to cope with tension successfully.

Those therapists who use NLP assist the client to channel his or her mind to use thoughts that stress them as triggers for relaxing thoughts. Furthermore, the client learns to use an unrelated part of the body, like a toe, to rechannel the emotional energy that would otherwise be manifested by the facial tic. This technique allows individuals to manage tension without relying on the humiliating impulse.

Another benefit of these two therapies is that the client avoids the experience of adverse effects from medication type therapies. In fact, both hypnotherapy and NLP are often believed to be the primary treatment for individuals who cope with tics, such as nose wrinkeling, or throat clearing, because these treatment approaches do not have unwanted side effects. This avoids considerable pain and stress for the sufferer.

Summary: Facial tics are frequently socially devastating and may yield serious consequences. Male children are more likely to develop this difficulty, which can persist into adult life; however female children may also have difficulties with tics. While several treatment approaches are available, hypnotism and NLP for facial ticks appear to be the most prudent treatments, because they do not cause problematic side effects and are very effective.
